Borneo Challenge

Six determined members of our staff at Ingram Hawkins & Nock and Montpelier have volunteered to take part in what could be the biggest challenge of their lives and in doing so will be helping to raise thousands of pounds to help disadvantaged young people across the UK.

Harrison, Andy, David, Steph and Louise will be spending an unforgettable week in Borneo to raise vital funds on behalf of the UK’s leading youth charity, The Prince’s Trust.

The Botracks team, as they are called, will be going head to head with other companies, such as SSP, Berrymans and Chartis in their attempt to win the coveted trophy.

The challenge starts with a tough 2 day ascent of Mount Kinabalu, South East Asia’s highest mountain peaking at 4,095m. A gruelling 54km cycle follows with plenty of steep up and down gravel tracks through the heart of Borneo. Next, a triathlon through the jungle hills sees the team cycling on undulating dirt tracks beside the river with sharp climbs, trekking through the jungle and rafting downstream for 2 hours. A 34km cycle is to follow with tough hill climbs through tropical lowland villages, followed by a further 2 hours rafting. This event will test their strength and determination; it will not only be physically demanding with the 30oC heat, humidity and altitude but it will also be a test of their mental resilience.

The Borneo Summit to Sea Challenge is taking place from 22nd – 31st May 2010 and our team has targeted a minimum £17,500 as its commitment to support The Prince’s Trust and its work helping young people get their lives back on track.
